Understanding Resale Rights
Author: Resale Rights
Category: Rights Explained
Certain rules and restrictions exist on resale rights products you may buy or have given to you.
Furthermore, most sellers (as well as buyers) are more than a little unclear as to what types of terms can be set on an information or software product.
Of course some distributors have got it ‘right’ and they’re very clear that they’re selling all rights for the price you pay. One such marketer is Jeremy Burns of SourceCodeBlowout fame. When he sells his products you get it all…If the product is an ebook, you’ll get a salesletter, html pages, images, the ebook in pdf format and the original text document in Microsoft Word format. There’s little left to assume about buying products like this (when they’re so extensively ’stacked’) but Jeremy goes even further by being quite explicit that his small and limited group of buyers could go forward to sell the product as is, bundled differently, given away, repackaged, or resold with Master Rights.
Of course many would say he’s ‘got it right’ from the get go. Trying to make money by creating products and selling limited rights to it could be an exercise in frustration - forever hunting down errant sellers out-stepping the restrictions.
Listen we’ll talk more about this later, right now, if you’re having trouble understanding the differences between resale, reprint, master and source code rights, use the search feature at the bottom of every page to find the product that you need with terms that you’ll agree to. If in doubt use the contact form and send me an email, or ask a question in the comment section of any post.
