Timeshare Sales Job?

I just landed a job selling timeshares for a very reputable company (starts with M and ends in arriott). Now I have heard of fly-by-night timeshare sales are false. What am I selling these things to people? Is it really possible to happen with the sales figures they want to keep your job is, or is it a waste of time?
