Quality Resale Rights

The past few days I’ve been doing some research, surfing around and reading other’s horror stories with buying resale rights to either ebooks or software.
Caveat Emptor on Resale Rights Products
My job, after all, is to give it to you straight on all the products available for resellers on this site, before you click that order button and part with your hard earned money.
Not to scare you off, but to help educate you on finding quality resale rights products, I decided it would be helpful to share some of the scams and slimy deals you might find yourself into when you’re purchasing master or regular resale rights products.
Resell Software Deals
Right now you’ll find a few sellers offering resale rights to software that have plans to make more profits off your hard work than the initial sale. The trouble is that once you’ve paid, you quickly find that the resale rights you paid for is merely an Adobe PDF file! Now essentially there’s little wrong with that, because the pdf is loaded with links to registration pages to download or receive support for the software. The ‘trouble’ lies in the back end or follow up marketing. You, as the resaler, have just lost the most important point of contact with your customer. In this scenario the customer now associates their purchase with the originator and your name, your rapport, pales in the customer’s eyes.
You’ve paid for the rights to sell the product, done the marketing work, pumping up the importance of the product, found the customer and processed the sale, but the originator gets the glory and makes the final contact. This is fine if you’re simply looking to sell products that you own resale rights to, but not great to build a business on.
Okay, this isn’t really a big deal - and you can find ways to work around the loss of rapport, but it still smells of a downright sneaky way for product creators to sell their resale rights. Especially on the high ticket items (yes you can pay thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars on resale rights).
Big Money Resale Products
I read a report of one marketer paying $50,000 for master rights software. The software creators disclosed (after the sale) that customers were only guaranteed the software was bug free when it ran on the creator’s hosting service, and yes, that was an additional fee for the customer…Again, not a terrible horror story, but a pretty sneaky way for a creator to make money off the back end of a high ticket item.
Resale Rights Video Products
Other complaints by resellers are videos linked from within pdf documents. I sell a few of these on Resale Review, but I disclose exactly what you’ll see and exactly what your customer experience will be upon purchase, before you buy. It’s only fair. You’ll also find that I discount these products as the quality and resale value isn’t as superior as some of the other higher priced products. However, quite often the information contained within is very valuable, just not well presented. These are perfect products to give to your subscribers or just use for your own information and online education.
Hand in hand with these types of documents are the products that are loaded with advertising. Again, I’ll tell you in my posts if this problem exists in the products you purchase here (and usually gift you with these types of products if the information is valuable).
Resale Rights Horrors
These are the situations you’ll find with resale rights products. You are invited to share your reseller horror stories here as well. Perhaps by tearing the blanket off the worst of the worst products we can elevate the quality of more products available to marketers or online entrepreneurs.
I am aware that lately I’ve been on a rant about the quality of many products available for purchase online. Perhaps the authors and resell software creators think we’re all a bunch of dummies, or that at the very least we’re just too busy to notice.
Either way, these are not the techniques you want to employ with your online website business or the types of products you want to sell with your eyes closed. Your list and your customers should be respected and only offered the finest of products - whether you’re a reseller or you’re using resell products to build a list of loyal subscribers. Keep your eyes open for stuff like this, ask questions about the product you’re about to buy. Don’t fall for hyped up sales letters and don’t be afraid to ask for refunds of the truly awful products offered with resale rights at high prices.
Hoping this helps you in your business!
